alexandra-ewing: One day I will write the script for a film about a woman whose biological clock is ticking while she makes a series of poor life decisions because she’s never outgrown her early 20’s, all so I can have a montage overlaid with a ballad (or bossa nova?) rendition of “Tik Tok.”

“What kind of incompetent company quietly releases a software update to its backup product that deletes its customers’ backed up data without clear, repeated, and obvious warnings? I want to punch Steve Jobs in the nuts.”

Thunderstorm.
Return from a long day of errands and work, after biking home in 90-degree heat. Take a cool shower to clean off from the humid day. Walk out of the bathroom to the sound of thunder - crack the windows to let air pass through the apartment. Listen to the clouds break, rain begin. Crack open a Dr. Pepper, pour it into a glass with ice. Sit on the couch and feel the cool breeze come in through the...

Letters from Men Who Watch Pornography →
alexandra-ewing: A few years ago I was obsessed with sex worker blogs. It started with College Callgirl, and drifted into many others, but the best (in my opinion) were the pair created by Susannah Breslin, Letters from Working Girls and Letters from Johns. It’s exciting to see that she’s started a third, now, after a long break. I can only hope for a companion Letters from Women sometime...

I am a moonshiner.: Crooked Still was great. →
I went to see Crooked Still play at Higher Ground last night.  It was a great show.  My only major complaint with it was that they had chairs set up, so the crowd remained seated for the whole thing.  I suppose it was to be expected, since just about everyone there was at least forty years old. Live, the band is more bluegrass than old-time, and they really show off their musicianship.  The...

Poetry 365: The Changed Man, Robert Phillips →
If you were to hear me imitating Pavarotti in the shower every morning, you would know how much you have changed my life. If you were to see me stride across the park waving to strangers, then you would know I am a changed man—like Scrooge awakened from his bad dreams feeling feather- light, angel-happy, laughing the father of along like of bright laughs— “It is not too late to change my...

Life is good (R)
My co-worker said I could bring in my ipod and play my own music in the store if it’s Life is good appropriate (aka happy-sounding, family-friendly, Jack Johnson-esque)… Any suggestions?
